"It was imprudent of us, in the first place, to become authors. We could have become something regular, but we managed not to.
We were lucky, but we were also determined." Roy Blount Jr

"I don’t change the facts to enhance the drama. I think of it the other way round, the drama has got to fit the facts,
and it’s your job as a writer to find the shape in real life."
Hilary Mantel

Musical Monday: Mark

I was such a hardcore Dire Straits fan that I died a little inside when the band stopped recording. DS and I go way, way back. But soon as Mark Knopfler started releasing his own albums, supported by Guy Fletcher and other regular and reliable associates, I gradually experienced a complete resurrection--or more accurately, a total conversion. His solo work seems to improve with each new release.

He's in the studio at Britsh Grove now, working on the next.

Today, a performance of Postcards from Paraguay in Berlin during the 2007 world tour. With a blue-armed Guy on keyboards.

The studio version song can be found on the Shangri-La album.
