"It was imprudent of us, in the first place, to become authors. We could have become something regular, but we managed not to.
We were lucky, but we were also determined." Roy Blount Jr

"I don’t change the facts to enhance the drama. I think of it the other way round, the drama has got to fit the facts,
and it’s your job as a writer to find the shape in real life."

Sunday Stroll: Cleanliness is Next to...

Woke this morning to 45 degrees and a bit of sunshine which fades in and out. The warmth (well, to us that's how it feels) won't last, but we're experiencing some welcome melting.

Earlier today I strolled up the walkway at church, clicking away.

A tracery of dark green leaves against the snow. Found signs of life in the buds forming on the bush.

More tracery formed by tree limbs.

Hydrangea flower heads in a snow bank.

As previously mentioned, the Honorable Vehicle is a disgusting spectacle. My extremely prominent, highly visible parking space between the Legislative Office Building and the State House has made me self-conscious about it. (And yet the representative who parks in front of me drives a car no cleaner than mine.)

I've been tempted to finger-write "Wash Me!" on the side of my own car. You can see why.

That's the entire winter's worth of accumulated of salt and grime. It's been there since we returned from London. Didn't seem worth washing off, considering we've had snow practically every week since then.

But today, with not a flake in the forecast for the forseeable future, we took action. Conveniently located just up the street from church:

Self-serve car wash.

What a remarkable transformation!

Love this sign.

I'm spending what's left of Sunday writing (big major hugely important crucial scene coming up--goody!) and strolling through a catalogue from a favourite rose supplier in Canada. I need to decide on my order, and attempt to predict an appropriate delivery date. This involves prognosticating about when the ground will be fully thawed and suitable for planting. Hard to do when there's still several feet of snow on top!

Thanks for stopping by. For other strolls, head over this way.
