"It was imprudent of us, in the first place, to become authors. We could have become something regular, but we managed not to.
We were lucky, but we were also determined." Roy Blount Jr

"I don’t change the facts to enhance the drama. I think of it the other way round, the drama has got to fit the facts,
and it’s your job as a writer to find the shape in real life."
Hilary Mantel

By the Lake

This being Monday--or so I'm told, I'm not paying much attention to a calendar these days--the Chap was free, so we had some rare together time at the cottage. We weren't alone.

We took one of the out-of-state holidaymakers on a spin in my new car--all the way to the town dump. It was nice having someone to carry the recyclables to the bins for us!

In the non-recycling section, the rubbish-moving vehicle is adorned with mascot.

You can tell by all the watercraft that kids are visiting.

They decided that our seagull whirligig needed a nest.

Quick photo before swimming.

Seven ducks.

Seven swimmers. (Six Porters and one German au pair. There were seven Porters in the lake before I got out to take a photo.)

The water was 79 degrees. It rarely gets any warmer. Another scorcher but we natives were so starved for decent swimming weather that we're not complaining.
